WHAT'S POSSIBLE?

These days, just about everyone knows there's a climate problem and just about everyone is concerned.*
The question we all ask is,

"What can I do? I'm just one person - how can anything I do make a difference?"

None of us can do everything, but we can all do something, and if everyone did something, imagine
what 7.7 million people living in the Bay Area can accomplish if we work together, because...
everyone has a part to play

Energy & Buildings

WHAT CAN YOU DO

Transportation

WHAT CAN YOU DO

Food

WHAT CAN YOU DO

RIGHT NOW?

The three biggest contributors to climate change right here in the Bay Area are the greenhouse gas emissions from our buildings & the energy we use, our transportation, and our food

The good news is that the solutions already exist.

Some solutions are easy and you can do them right now. Others are going to take all of us working together. Our actions will not only help the planet, but they'll help all of us: improving our health by improving the air we breathe, improving our economy by creating jobs and supporting businesses, and making all of our communities more resilient. It's about equity, the economy, AND the environment, because they're all connected.

"What's Possible"
The challenge is real: in order to avoid the worst impacts of climate change, we need to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions by 80% no later than 2030. That's less than ten years away!

To do this, we have to stop using fossil fuels and we have to draw down the gases in the atmosphere that are warming our planet. We all need a place to start, and we're designing this website for everyone: individuals, community groups, businesses, and government.
We'll share inspiration from our communities, real actions you can take, resources and tools, policies to implement in every city, and the science behind the solutions. Here you will find your first step, and then the next, and the step after that, connecting the power of people throughout the Bay Area.
And we need to get started! - we only have about ten years to dramatically reduce our greenhouse gas emissions -here in the Bay Area, throughout California, and around the world, in order to do our part to slow global warming.
So what part will you play?

DRAWDOWN Bay Area is a non-profit formed in 2019 to bring together our communities, businesses, and local and regional government to implement the climate solutions that will dramatically reduce our greenhouse gas emissions, solutions that are based on sound science, are community-based, are technically and financially feasible, have measurable outcomes, and will help ensure a better future for all. These regional solutions to the global climate challenge are open-source, shareable with all, and scalable beyond the Bay.

The Regional 2030 Climate Challenge is a Bay Area-wide campaign to help all of us take meaningful climate actions: at home, at work, at our businesses, and in our communities. The Challenge brings together the remarkable efforts that are happening all around the Bay, connecting people, communities, strategies, tools, and ways to afford making the solutions a reality, and not just "nice ideas".
